As part of the ongoing "Viksit Bharat–Samriddh Bihar" campaign, Panchayat Vikas Diwas was celebrated with a strong focus on public health and grassroots development in Jehanabad district. District Magistrate (DM) Tshering Y Bhutia attended the central event held in Surangapur Bhavanichak Panchayat, where she led an extensive health awareness drive under the slogan "TB Harega, Jehanabad Jitega" (TB will lose, Jehanabad will win).

Mass Distribution of Nutrition Kits

To actively improve the health of vulnerable demographics, the district administration distributed a total of 897 nutrition kits. These kits were specifically allocated to 628 tuberculosis (TB) patients and 269 children suffering from moderate to severe malnutrition.

The kits are designed to boost immunity and recovery, packed with high-protein and energy-rich items including chickpeas (chana), lentils (dal), soya chunks, peanuts, milk powder, and wheat flour.

Future Targets and Health Screening

The initiative is set to expand over the coming months. In collaboration with Alkem Laboratories, the district administration plans to provide an additional 2,000 nutrition kits for TB patients and malnourished children within the next six months.

Simultaneously, under the national 'TB Mukt Bharat' (TB-Free India) campaign, the Jehanabad health department has aggressively ramped up its testing capabilities. Officials confirmed that 82,178 individuals have already been screened across the district to ensure timely identification and medical intervention for TB patients.

Administrative Push for Healthcare Accessibility

During her address to the villagers, DM Tshering Y Bhutia made a strong appeal to the public to immediately visit government hospitals for free checkups if they experience any symptoms of TB. In addition to TB awareness, she strongly advocated for institutional deliveries to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.

Highlighting her hands-on approach to healthcare administration, the DM recently conducted surprise inspections of the district’s health services and the Sadar Hospital to ensure medical facilities are operating efficiently.

The Panchayat Vikas Diwas event saw significant participation from top district officials. Alongside the DM, the Superintendent of Police (SP), Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Civil Surgeon, and the DRDA Director were present to support the health and rural development initiatives.
