Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has announced his arrival in international cricket. The 15-year-old batter won the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards for the first time for India. He smashed 81 off 49 in the final T20I match against Zimbabwe on Sunday, helping Shreyas Iyer to secure his first series win as captain after losing the series against Ireland and England.

The southpaw received $3000 (around INR 2.9 lakh) in prize money after the third T20I against Zimbabwe. He took $1000 for being named Player of the Match and $2000 for being named Player of the Series.

After a solid IPL 2026, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named in the squads for Ireland and England, but the left-handed batter couldn’t leave his mark when he got the chance to play against England in three matches.

However, the Zimbabwe tour turned out to be amazing for him. He started off the series with a half-century and then continued the same form in the final match of the series.

In the three-match series, Vaibhav scored 151 runs at a strike rate of 196.10, including two-half centuries.

Speaking about his preparation and winning the first Player of the Series award, Vaibhav said:

“I feel very good because the preparations were nice. I played the Under-19 WC here and got support from the coaching staff. I really like playing here. I like to follow my instincts. I was just trying to give the team a good start and then build on it from there. I like to do what I do in the practice sessions. It is like a dream-come-true moment. First Player of the Match and Player of the Series award for me, it feels really good,"

India wins the third and final match of the series against Zimbabwe by 35 runs. In the second innings, Mayak Yadav scalped three wickets and Yash Thakur picked two wickets.
