Amit Shah's Surprise Visit to Prosenjit Chatterjee’s Kolkata Home: The Real Reason Revealed
Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a surprise visit to Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee's Ballygunge home. Discover the real reason behind the meet.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah's sudden appearance at the Ballygunge residence of Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee sent ripples through West Bengal's political circles on Monday afternoon. With no prior official announcement regarding the meeting, speculations ran wild about the Union Minister’s unannounced stop at the home of Bengali cinema's "Industry."
However, a few hours later, Amit Shah himself put an end to the political guessing game. Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Home Minister clarified the exact purpose of his high-profile visit.
Had a warm meeting with renowned film actor, director, and writer Shri Prosenjit Chatterjee at his residence today. As part of the 'Vishesh Jan Sampark Abhiyan', I briefed him on the historic achievements of the Modi government over the past 12 years.

A Special Outreach Mission
Sharing a series of cordial photographs with the veteran actor, Shah posted messages in both English and Bengali.
He wrote: "Had a warm meeting with renowned film actor, director, and writer Shri Prosenjit Chatterjee at his residence today. As part of the 'Vishesh Jan Sampark Abhiyan' (Special Public Relations Campaign), I briefed him on the historic achievements of the Modi government over the past 12 years."
The visit aligns perfectly with the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) nationwide outreach initiative. Following the recent completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led central government, the BJP has launched the 'Vishesh Jan Sampark Abhiyan' to engage with prominent societal figures and outline the administration's decade-plus milestones. Shah’s stop at Prosenjit's home was a strategic part of this campaign in Bengal.
Amit Shah’s Action-Packed Kolkata Itinerary
Amit Shah was heavily booked in Kolkata on Monday to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
His day began at Eco Park in New Town, where he laid the foundation stone for a massive 125-foot statue of Dr. Mookerjee. Following that, Shah visited Mookerjee's ancestral home in Bhawanipore to pay his respects.
It was right after the Bhawanipore visit that the Union Home Minister's convoy surprisingly detoured to Ballygunge. Shah spent approximately 15 minutes at Prosenjit Chatterjee's residence, where he reportedly shared a cup of tea with the actor.
During the visit, Shah was accompanied by heavyweights of the state BJP, including West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, State BJP President Samik Bhattacharya, and senior leader Locket Chatterjee. Following the brief but impactful meeting, Shah departed to attend another major event dedicated to Syama Prasad Mookerjee at the Milan Mela grounds.
