Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler vs Toyota Hilux: Detailed Comparison
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler and Toyota Hilux pickup trucks compared side by side.

Mahindra unveiled its new Scorpio Lifestyler pickup on August 14, 2026, positioning it as a direct rival to the recently launched ninth-generation Toyota Hilux in India's lifestyle pickup segment. The Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler vs Toyota Hilux comparison highlights how the two trucks differ in design, powertrain options, features and pricing, according to CarDekho.

The Scorpio Lifestyler shares its platform with the Scorpio N SUV and features squared-off LED headlamps, a chrome-studded grille and vertically placed LED fog lamps, according to CarDekho. The Hilux uses slimmer LED headlamps, a honeycomb grille and a sculpted bumper with air vents. In profile, the Hilux is reported to be larger overall, though the Scorpio Lifestyler rides on larger 18-inch alloy wheels versus the Hilux's 17-inch units. Both trucks use a dual-cab layout with a large cargo bed, and both get C-shaped LED taillamps at the rear.

The Scorpio Lifestyler is offered in three colours, Aquareef, Sahara Beige and Artemis Grey, while the Hilux comes in six, including Sulphur Metallic and Super White, according to CarDekho.

Inside, the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to feature a portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen, a dual-tone dashboard with gloss-black accents, and a four-spoke steering wheel, based on sketches shown by Mahindra; full interior specifications have not been confirmed by Mahindra ahead of launch. The Hilux has a more utilitarian cabin with a large touchscreen and manual climate control. CarDekho describes the Lifestyler's cabin as more premium, and the Hilux's as rugged and functional.

On features, the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver's display, dual-zone climate control and a sunroof. The Hilux offers a 12.3-inch touchscreen, height-adjustable front seats, a 7-inch digital driver's display and an 8-speaker sound system, according to Toyota. CarDekho says the Hilux's feature list is more focused on essentials compared with the Lifestyler.

On safety, the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to offer Level-2 ADAS, a 540-degree camera, six airbags and hill hold assist, while the Hilux offers seven airbags and a 360-degree camera. CarDekho notes the Lifestyler is likely to carry more safety technology overall, though specifications remain unconfirmed.

On powertrains, the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to get a 2-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine (up to 203 PS) and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel (up to 175 PS), both with manual or automatic transmissions, figures still pending official confirmation. The Hilux uses a single 2.8-litre mild-hybrid diesel producing 204 PS and 500 Nm, paired only with a 6-speed automatic and a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive.

The Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to start from an estimated Rs 19.79 lakh ex-showroom, not yet a confirmed launch price, according to CarDekho, while the Hilux is priced between Rs 31.99 lakh and Rs 36.69 lakh. The Lifestyler also rivals the Isuzu V-Cross. CarDekho notes the Hilux currently offers only one engine with automatic transmission, while the Lifestyler is expected to offer both petrol and diesel options inherited from its SUV platform sibling.
