Who is Ashok Sharma? Meet India's debutant fast bowler against Zimbabwe

India handed a debut to fast bowler Ashok Sharma in the first T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare on Sunday. It marked a special moment for the Gujarat Titans pacer, who earned his first international cap after impressing in IPL 2026.

The 22-year-old comes into the side on the back of a promising IPL campaign. He played six matches for Gujarat Titans and picked up six wickets. While his economy rate of 10.86 was on the higher side, his ability to bowl at high pace caught the attention of the selectors.

Ashok's biggest highlight during the IPL season was a delivery clocked at 154 kmph, the fastest ball of the tournament. His pace and attacking approach made him one of the emerging fast bowlers to watch, despite his limited opportunities.

Making his India debut is another step in his rapid rise. The young pacer will now look to make an impact at international level and justify the faith shown by the team management.
