Tensions flared in Jhansi as Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders and workers staged a massive protest at the prominent Elite Chauraha, carrying portraits of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and chanting anti-government slogans. The demonstration, which temporarily disrupted traffic, led to a swift police crackdown, resulting in the detentions of several high-ranking local political figures.
SP Workers Staged Intense Agitation at Elite Chauraha- The political landscape in Jhansi witnessed heavy dramatic scenes on Monday as members of the Samajwadi Party took to the streets to launch a fierce protest. Gathering in large numbers, the party workers marched toward Elite Chauraha holding portraits of the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, to challenge the ruling government.
Sloganeering and Traffic Disruptions - The protesters raised passionate slogans accusing the current administration of undermining constitutional values, rising inflation, and failing to protect democratic institutions. The sudden assembly at Elite Chauraha—one of Jhansi's busiest intersections—caused heavy vehicular traffic jams as political workers blocked key lanes to voice their dissent.
Police Action and Detentions - As the situation escalated, a large contingent of Uttar Pradesh police personnel arrived at the scene to restore public order. Security forces attempted to pacify the crowd, but as the slogan-shouting intensified, officers moved forward to clear the intersection.
Police Interventions: Several prominent Samajwadi Party leaders and active workers who refused to clear the streets were forcefully loaded into police vehicles.Preventative Custody:-

Senior police officials confirmed that multiple leaders were taken into preventative custody and moved to local police lines to prevent further law and order complications in the city. Local SP representatives have strongly condemned the police action, calling it a deliberate suppression of their democratic right to peaceful protest.
