Discrepancy in Voter Database: Investigation Ordered Into Prayagraj Panchayat Final Electoral Rolls Following Omission Claims.
The District Panchayati Raj Officer (DPRO) of Prayagraj, Ravi Shankar Dwivedi, has launched a formal probe into irregularities found in the newly published final voter lists for local panchayat elections. The step follows official complaints from the son of a sitting village head, who alleged that approximately 70 valid voter entries were systematically removed during the transition from the draft to the final rolls in the Chhahamanpur Gram Panchayat.
Local election watchdogs and administrative machinery in Prayagraj are under intense scrutiny following serious allegations of voter list manipulation ahead of upcoming local body dynamics. Legal and institutional mechanisms were set in motion after a high-level complaint pointed out structural anomalies within the newly published voter directory structures.
70 Voters Systematically Omitted :- The operational dispute centers on the Chahamanpur Gram Panchayat, located within the Sahson block. The son of the current Gram Pradhan filed an official petition claiming that 70 verified citizens had their names arbitrarily removed from the final voter registry list.According to the complainant, these names were completely visible and active during the initial draft or preliminary list phase, where citizens verify their local credentials. However, during the final printing and roll publication, these names disappeared without any prior official notification, warning, or valid explanation. The sudden erasure has raised concerns among local residents who fear losing their fundamental democratic voting rights.
DPRO Intervenes, Initiates Detailed Audit :- Responding to the escalating rural discontent, Prayagraj District Panchayati Raj Officer (DPRO) Ravi Shankar Dwivedi took immediate administrative notice of the matter. The DPRO has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the entire data entry and revision process for the local panchayat segment.Preliminary inquiries conducted by the department have already validated the core claim, showing a mismatch between the internal tracking sheets and the final public list. Investigating officers noted that while several names successfully cleared the initial screening rounds, they were somehow missing from the final version.
Ensuring Electoral Transparency :- The DPRO's office has stated that the investigation will thoroughly audit the digital entries and identify the personnel responsible for compile-phase modifications. Officials have assured the public that if the names were removed due to technical glitches or deliberate foul play, corrective measures will be taken swiftly. This intervention comes amid a broader state-wide push by the State Election Commission (SEC) of Uttar Pradesh to clean up voter rolls, remove duplicate listings, and resolve localized discrepancies through the Special Intensive Revision ini

tiative. Local authorities emphasized that maintaining a clean, error-free voter registry is essential to ensuring a fair and transparent democratic process at the grassroots level.
