Mayur Vihar Phase III, East Delhi
A routine evening inside a residential society in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase III turned chaotic when a dispute between visitors and local residents escalated into violence. The incident left five people injured after a speeding car allegedly rammed into pedestrians while attempting to flee the housing complex.
Dispute at Aastha Apartments
According to Delhi Police, the incident took place at Aastha Apartments. Initial investigations suggest that a man and a woman, who were not residents of the society, entered the premises to meet someone. The situation took a serious turn after local children questioned their presence inside the complex.
Police said an argument broke out, during which the man allegedly slapped one of the children. As news of the incident spread, several residents gathered at the spot and confronted the visitors. The verbal argument soon turned into a physical altercation.
Car Allegedly Used to Escape
Investigators said the man later contacted his associates, who arrived at the society in a car. The group allegedly assaulted a few residents before attempting to leave the premises.
While trying to escape, the driver allegedly accelerated the vehicle and drove through the society at high speed. The car struck several residents and damaged parked two-wheelers. Five people, including a child, sustained injuries in the incident. Two of the injured reportedly suffered serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital, while the others received medical treatment for minor injuries.
Police Investigation and Arrests
After receiving information, officers from New Ashok Nagar Police Station reached the spot and registered a First Information Report (FIR). Police examined CCTV footage from the society and identified the suspects involved.
Two accused, identified as 21-year-old Sushant and Atul from Ghazipur, have been arrested. Police said another suspect is still absconding and search operations are underway.
Statement During Questioning
During questioning, one of the accused reportedly told investigators that he had gone to the society to meet a woman living there. Police believe the confrontation unexpectedly escalated after children questioned his presence, eventually leading to the violent incident.
