Indian Primary Market in Focus: Comparing SBI Funds Management and Alpine Texworld IPOs
Digital stock market screens highlighting the primary market focus on SBI Funds Management and Alpine Texworld IPOs

MUMBAI — The Indian primary market saw a flurry of activity today as two highly contrasting initial public offerings (IPOs) opened for subscription simultaneously. On one end of the spectrum is the mega-sized SBI Funds Management, and on the other, the small-cap textile player Alpine Texworld.

While both issues share the same subscription window—opening today, July 14, and closing on July 16, 2026—they offer vastly different value propositions for investors. Brokerage firm Swastika Investmart has weighed in on both, issuing distinct ratings that highlight the contrasting nature of the two offerings.

The Scale and Nature Split

The structural differences between the two IPOs are stark:

  • SBI Funds Management: India's largest asset manager has launched a massive public issue. Originally estimated at over ₹11,692 crore, the issue size is now roughly ₹9,813 crore following a successful pre-IPO placement. Crucially, this is a 100% Offer for Sale (OFS) by its promoters, State Bank of India and Amundi India Holding. This means all proceeds will go directly to the selling shareholders, and no fresh capital will be injected into the company.

  • Alpine Texworld: In stark contrast, this small-cap market entrant is looking to raise a modest ₹126.25 crore. The issue consists entirely of fresh equity shares. The company plans to utilize these proceeds directly for corporate expansion, including establishing a new weaving unit in Gujarat, and reducing its existing debt burden.

Retail Investment Metrics

Despite the massive difference in overall scale, both IPOs are structured to require nearly identical starting capital for retail investors:

  • SBI Funds Management: The price band is fixed at ₹545 to ₹574 per share. Retail investors must apply for a minimum lot of 26 shares, bringing the starting investment to ₹14,924 at the upper price band.

  • Alpine Texworld: The price band is set much lower at ₹100 to ₹105 per share. However, with a lot size of 142 shares, the minimum required retail investment is ₹14,910.

Grey Market Premium (GMP) & Expected Listing Gains

The unlisted market is showing a clear preference for the banking major:

  • SBI Funds Management: The stock is commanding strong demand in the unlisted market. With a current GMP of roughly ₹100, the estimated listing price stands at around ₹674 per share, translating to a healthy expected listing premium of over 17%.

  • Alpine Texworld: The small-cap issue is seeing much weaker traction. Currently commanding a GMP of just ₹5, the estimated debut price is ₹110, signaling a modest listing premium of around 4.76%.

Brokerage Actionable Recommendations

Swastika Investmart has provided clear, actionable advice for investors navigating these two very different offerings:

1. SBI Funds Management (Rating: Subscribe for Long Term) Swastika favors the AMC giant for long-term investors, citing its leadership position as India's largest asset management company with a massive ₹12.5 lakh crore QAAUM. The brokerage highlighted its robust profitability, noting an 81.56% EBITDA margin and a strong SIP franchise. Furthermore, at the upper price band, the IPO is valued attractively at 38.1x FY26 P/E, which is lower than the industry average of 41.6x.

2. Alpine Texworld (Rating: Neutral) Swastika has assigned a 'Neutral' rating to the textile manufacturer, citing a mixed risk-reward profile. While the brokerage acknowledged a strong improvement in FY26 profitability (with PAT margins improving to 6.34%), it noted that the valuation at 18.49x P/E appears slightly expensive for a highly commoditized industry. Additionally, the company carries a notable debt-to-equity ratio of 2.35, though the fresh issue proceeds are expected to alleviate this burden.

Shared Timeline for Media Reports

Investors participating in either IPO should mark the following key dates:

  • Subscription Window: July 14 to July 16, 2026.

  • Basis of Allotment: Expected Friday, July 17, 2026.

  • Tentative Listing Date: Tuesday, July 21, 2026, on both the BSE and NSE.
