India Strongly Condemns Defacement of Embassy in Slovenia by Khalistan Separatists
The Indian government has strongly condemned the defacement of its embassy in Slovenia by Khalistan separatists, citing the inviolability of diplomatic premises under the Vienna Convention. The Ministry of External Affairs has escalated the matter with Slovenian authorities and urged global law enforcement to address the rising hateful propaganda spread by such groups.
NEW DELHI: The Indian government has issued a strong condemnation following the defacement of the Indian embassy premises in Slovenia by Khalistan separatists. In response to the vandalism, New Delhi has urged global law enforcement authorities to take serious note of the hateful propaganda and coordinated disinformation campaigns being orchestrated by these separatist groups.
Invoking the Vienna Convention In an official statement addressing the incident, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized the legal obligations of host nations under international law. The MEA reiterated that under the Vienna Convention, diplomatic premises are strictly inviolable and must be protected by the host country at all costs.
"We have taken up the matter strongly with Slovenian authorities, both in New Delhi and in Ljubljana, so that the perpetrators behind such reprehensible acts are held accountable to the full extent of the law," the official MEA statement read.
A Global Appeal Against Extremist Propaganda Beyond seeking immediate action from Slovenia, the Indian government used the opportunity to send a broader message to the international community. The MEA statement explicitly called upon law enforcement agencies worldwide to recognize and curb the activities of these extremist elements.
"We also call upon law enforcement authorities elsewhere to take note of the hateful propaganda and disinformation being spread by such groups," the ministry added.
A Disturbing Global Trend The incident in Ljubljana is not an isolated event. In recent years, Indian diplomatic missions and consulates have increasingly become targets for extremist elements. Establishments have been repeatedly vandalized or defaced with pro-Khalistan slogans and flags in several major countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The Indian government continues to press these allied nations to tighten security around its diplomatic missions and take preemptive legal action against individuals promoting separatist violence and vandalism.
