Tata Motors has announced a price hike for its cars and SUVs across its passenger vehicle portfolio in India, effective September 1, 2026, according to a report by RushLane. The Tata cars price hike will see prices rise by up to Rs 25,000, with the revision applying to both ICE and electric vehicles.

The exact increase will vary by model and variant, meaning Rs 25,000 represents the maximum hike and will not apply uniformly across the range, RushLane reported. Model-wise revised prices are expected closer to the effective date. Tata Motors has attributed the Tata Motors price hike September 2026 primarily to rising input costs and sustained inflationary pressures, saying it continues to absorb a significant portion of the increase while passing on part of the additional cost to customers.

The revision covers Tata's entire passenger vehicle portfolio, including ICE models such as the Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Altroz, Nexon, Curvv, Harrier and Safari, as well as the company's electric vehicle range, listed on Tata Motors EV. Individual model-wise increases have not yet been announced, so the actual price increase could be considerably lower than the maximum figure for some variants.

This marks the second Tata cars price increase in three months. Tata Motors had already raised passenger vehicle prices by up to 1.5% in July 2026 across both ICE and electric models. The September revision is structured differently, specifying a fixed maximum of Rs 25,000 rather than a percentage, meaning some customers could face a second increase within roughly two months.

Tata is not alone in revising prices ahead of the festive season. Hyundai has also announced a price hike of up to 1% from September 2026, as reported in Hyundai Car Price Hike 2026, citing rising input and commodity costs, higher operational expenses and macroeconomic uncertainties, while market leader Maruti Suzuki raised prices earlier this month, RushLane reported.

The timing is notable, as September marks the start of the festive season, typically a period of higher demand for India's automotive industry. Customers who complete their purchases before the revision takes effect may be able to buy at existing prices, although pricing for existing bookings will depend on Tata Motors' invoicing and delivery terms, according to the report.

Revised ex-showroom prices will also affect the final on-road cost, since components such as registration and insurance are often linked to vehicle value. Buyers will need to wait for Tata Motors' updated price list, effective September 1, to know the exact Tata cars price hike 2026 applicable to each model and variant.
