BARUIPUR — Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is scheduled to visit the residence of Indrajit Mandal, the innocent youth brutally beaten to death by a mob, later today. Ahead of his high-profile visit, the police made significant headway in the lynching probe, arresting three additional suspects late Friday night.

This latest police action brings the total number of arrests in the mob lynching case to five. The three newly apprehended individuals will be produced before the Baruipur court on Saturday.

CM's Itinerary: Outreach and a New Police Outpost

The Chief Minister’s visit on Saturday focuses heavily on administrative outreach and restoring law and order. Adhikari will first visit the family of the 12-year-old rape and murder victim whose tragic death sparked the initial unrest in Suryapur last Sunday. Following that, he will head directly to the home of Indrajit Mandal.

Fulfilling a primary demand made by the minor's grieving family during his previous visit to the Baruipur SP office on Tuesday, the CM will inaugurate a brand-new police outpost in Suryapur. Remarkably, the state administration constructed and operationalized the facility in just five days.

"Dragged From His Sleep": A Mother's Grief

Indrajit Mandal became a tragic victim of misplaced mob fury last Sunday shortly after the minor girl's body was recovered from a local pond. Suspecting his involvement in the horrific crime, a furious mob dragged him from his home and lynched him. CM Adhikari later publicly confirmed that Mandal was completely innocent.

Recounting the horror, Indrajit’s mother stated, "He was sleeping in his room. A few people came, dragged him out, and beat my perfectly healthy son to death. I have lost my real gem. I have nothing left to say."

Placing her faith in the state's leadership regarding justice, she added, "I have left everything to the Chief Minister. He will do what he thinks is best."

Currently, the local administration is repairing the Mandal residence and has installed CCTV cameras around the property for the family's security. Family members have expressed satisfaction with the swift government response and plan to discuss their ongoing grievances directly with the CM today.

Encounter and Crackdown on Unrest

The police have adopted a zero-tolerance approach to the violence that paralyzed Baruipur. Multiple separate FIRs have been registered, leading to several arrests for attacking police personnel and blockading railway tracks on the day of the incident.

Meanwhile, the main probe into the minor's rape and murder took a dramatic turn earlier this week when one of the prime accused was killed in a police encounter. According to official reports, the accused attempted to snatch a service weapon and flee during a late-night crime scene reconstruction, prompting retaliatory fire.

A forensic team collected ballistic and physical samples from the encounter site on Friday as an internal investigation into the shootout continues.
