 In a major administrative restructuring designed to tighten the security apparatus across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday ordered the immediate transfer of 15 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The reshuffle introduces new leadership at the helm of key metropolitan commissionerates, highlighted by the appointment of Tarun Gauba as the new Police Commissioner of Lucknow.

Tarun Gauba Takes Helm in Capital City :- Tarun Gauba, a seasoned 2001-batch IPS officer who was previously serving as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Security Headquarters, steps into the role of Lucknow's top police chief.

He replaces Amrendra Kumar Sengar, a 1995-batch officer who has been promoted to the rank of Director General (DG). Sengar has been repositioned to lead the state's intelligence network as the new DG of Intelligence, while retaining additional operational oversight of the Security Headquarters.

Key Shifts in Prayagraj and Varanasi :- The administrative orders heavily impact other major cities experiencing notable law-and-order updates:Varanasi Zone: Naveen Arora, previously the ADG of Technical Services, fills the vacuum left by Mordia and takes charge as the new ADG of the Varanasi Zone. Meanwhile, Bhagwan Swarup Srivastava moves from ADG of Intelligence to take over the Technical Services portfolio.

Broader Strategic Appointments :- The sweeping state order further optimizes specialized departments. Mutha Ashok Jain, a 1995-batch officer recently elevated to DG rank, is tasked with steering emergency response as the Director General of Fire Services.Within the state Home Department, Mohit Gupta transitions from his role as Secretary to become the Inspector General of the Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO). Conversely, Anandrao Kulkarni, who previously headed the ACO as IG, has been shifted into the administration as the new Secretary of the Home Department.

At the zonal level, Ram Kumar has been formally posted as the ADG for the Gorakhpur Zone, shifting from his role in the Logistics department. Sanjeev Gupta, ADG at Police Headquarters, takes on the logistics department under an additional charge.

According to home department officials, this large-scale realignment is aimed at streamlining inter-departmental synergy, injecting fresh command perspectives into essential zones, and augmenting localized policing mechanisms across Uttar Pradesh.
